Annual Dinner Thursday 6th October 2011

Held at 'Town' and despite the RWC & other local events, we had a great turn out of old boys from the 1940s to the present. The night began with a minute silence for old boys who have passed away, with particular mention of Joshua Hinaki (T06-10). Joshua (19) died of suspected meningococcal disease. President, Evan Bayly spoke of the tie that bonds old boys of both colleges together, that being the Marist tradition and the faith that we share. As usual the college song was sung with passion & nostalgia. It was fitting that Erin Moyle spoke afterwards about Dean Gifford (T83-87) who is battling a brain tumour. She is organising a fundraising dinner to support him and his whanau. (More Info)

The Old Boy of year 2011, Felix Kane Cup was awarded to Rev. Father Noel Delaney SM (S35-40).He was supported by friends, whanau and colleagues from the Marist community. Nephew, Noel Sainsbury(S73-77) spoke about his Uncles' humility and modesty as a quiet high achiever building and creating communities.

Joseph Romanos (T70-74)gave an excellent speech covering the history of Town and paralled that with world events in 1979 when the school moved. He continued with a brief history of the RWC and his 'pick' of the best All Black team spanning 1987-2011.

We thank the executive, in particular Philip Reeve (S80-84) for organising the night, donations for the raffles and MC, Stephen Hewson (S80-84)
