Jubilee News - July 2009

Jubilee ‘Expressions of Interest’

Thanks to all those Old Boys and friends of the College that have expressed their interest in the 125yr Jubilee for 2010. It’s fantastic to see the response and enthusiasm for these celebrations.

Linking Up Classmates

We do need your help in reaching out to a number of Old Boys.

If you are in contact with any Old Boys from your year  please direct them to this Jubilee website or even collate addresses/emails and forward them to the Development Manager, development@stpats.school.nz, Ph 04 9395416 who will  follow up.

Your class year is the year that you were in 3rd Form/Year 9, regardless of what year you actually began at St Patrick’s. For example if you began in Form 5 (Year 11) in 1976, your ‘class year’ is 1974.

For some Class years there is a class link working to reconnect with others. In some cases fellow class mates are intending to have an additional get together, working around the Jubilee programme, to maximise the socialising amongst their group. If you know of a Class Link for your year, but the Jubilee Committee may not, or if you are interested in helping out please just contact the Development Manager.

Jubilee Weekend Programme 4-6th June 2010

The Jubilee Committee is working hard to finalise the events programme. On the 1st September 2009 the registration instructions and information on all events will be posted on the Jubilee website so please take action and register early. For those that have sent forms in we will send you the information directly to you as per the address details provided.

College News…..just to keep our Old Boys up to date

  • In May 2009 the college won the O’Shea Shield, competing against 16 other colleges.
  • For the Barbershop Regional Competition the College fielded a Quartet and Barbershop Chorus.  Old Boy Henare Mihaere worked hard with the boys to gain second place in the Quartet, with the College qualifying to attend the National Competition later this year.
  • 125th First XV Rugby Traditional against Wellington College was held on a dull grey day but didn’t dampen the spirit of players and supporters. As all Old Boys would remember the rivalry is intense and our players are waiting for the chance next year to take top honours.

St Patrick’s College Wellington Foundation

It is recognised that in 2010 the College community will not only be celebrating the longevity of St Patrick’s but its ability to continuously provide quality education in the Marist tradition and all that represents Sectare Fidem.

On 1st September 2009 the College Board of Proprietors are launching the St Patrick’s College Wellington Foundation.

The Foundation is being established to reconnect today’s College with its Old Boys, past and current parents, staff and friends; and to safeguard the College financial well being for future generations.

So all  Old Boys please read this invitation, we hope you can attend this significant occasion in the history of the College and RSVP before 18th August 2009.
